Event Technology Trends 2022

In the past two years, during the pandemic, the evolution of technology has risen. Industries are constantly looking for innovative ways to engage their guest or want to improve their overall experience. Event technology involves any electronic device, tool or software application that will assist the events industry. It may ease into registration, check-in, or scheduling. Or it could create advanced presentations, including lighting, music and staging. This is a way that can simplify logistics and engage your guests.

1. Branded/All-In-One Apps

There are constant apps that are being created to cater to everyone's needs. These apps are being created to enhance the guest experience by providing all of the relevant information they need in one place. By helping plan their schedule, identifying vendors or sessions they're interested in, store tickets, utilizing chatbots, keeping attendees connected during and after the event, and additional resources needed to navigate for an event.

2. Wearables

New wearable technology will allow attendees to enjoy the event contactless such as obtaining digital marketing/session information, receiving event notifications, rewards/perks, marking cash-free purchases, and more just by using their existing badge IDs or wristbands. This will enable participants and guests to walk freely through the event in a post-COVID world.

3. Holograms

Holograms are a new twist on the digital world. It does not excite guests as much when streaming from a simple zoom call to thousands of people. If your company is looking to host an event in multiple locations, your speaker in a different location can appear holographically at your event. This could potentially bring down the cost of expensive speakers that may be out of reach for a business.

4. Second Screen

A second screen can include using your handy-dandy smartphone to augment your guests' experience. This allows your attendees to view slide shows from afar, participate in questionnaires and live to poll, and engage in Q&A sessions, regardless of where they are sitting. This will increase hybrid and virtual events if they are not in attendance.

5. Facial Recognition

One of the benefits of facial recognition is gatekeeping, meaning access points to the event can be controlled and require fewer employees to monitor. It can also include:

  • Print on demand IDs/badges

  • Track session attendance

  • Personalize swag bags

  • Facilitate swag bags

  • Facilitate check-in/registration

  • Speed up entrances and prevent bottlenecks in high traffic

6. Augmented Reality

Augmented Reality is a great way to keep your guests engaged, whether it is at meetings or corporate events. You can use this for any experiential activity at your next event. You can use this by animating static objects to gain more attention, using customized filters and frames to tell a sponsor's story, or educating attendees about new products. Attendees will feel more engaged with a fun and exciting way to enhance their overall experience.

7. Clever Flooring

This is a neat way to gather attendee data without affecting the event experience. Using intelligent floor mats uses another method for data collection and analysis by tracking footsteps, obtaining accurate traffic numbers and showing real-time data.

8. Virtual Reality

Virtual Reality is one of the most famous pieces of technology that has been around for some time. This piece of technology has become more affordable and has been exposed to the market for different things such as museums and amusement parks. It helps increase and create user engagement on-site and increases sales while showcasing products and services. You can use this by connecting your remote audience and allowing them to experience a live event.
